Animals play a vital role in our lives, providing assistance and companionship. The number of domestic animals in Australia today far exceeds our human population, creating problems the whole community must face. Only half of all the dogs and cats in Australia are pets – the rest are either feral or unwanted strays. This means that many animals must be destroyed each year just because they are unwanted. It is unfortunate that a minority of people in our community – through malice, neglect or simple ignorance – betray the special relationship of trust between humans and animals. The RSPCA Alice Springs give the animals that come through it's doors love, food, affection, attention , medical attention and shelter.
The RSPCA of Central Australia accepts around 2000 stray and unwanted animals each year. With your help we can find good homes for each and every one of them and give them a good chance at life. Our Shelter, located on Len Kittle Drive adjacent to the Blatherskite Park Showgrounds, is open from 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays. We are closed Sundays and Public Holidays.
By becoming a member of the RSPCA Alice Springs (or giving membership as a gift) you are helping to give an unwanted animal a second chance at life. As a member you will receive email or mailed notifications of upcoming fundraising events and get togethers, newsletters and knowledge that your contribution helps to shape a better future for our smaller friends.
